Many people seem to capitalize species and subspecies. The genus is supposed to be capitalized while the species and subspecies are not, like Tenodera sinensis, Pseudoharpax virescens centralis, Sphodromantis lineola pinguis, Statilia maculata, Statilia maculata continentalis, Statilia maculata maculata. The common names are supposed to be capitalized, like Asian Grass Mantis, Carolina Mantis, Chinese Mantis, Gambian Spotted-eye Flower Mantis, Orchid Mantis, Ant Mantis, Narrow-winged Mantis.
